Case Studies
Boiler Replacement and Warmers added to Production Line
An energy evaluation was completed of the Coca-Cola Plant in Cincinnati. We discovered we had an opportunity to save energy by reducing the amount of high pressure boilers from five to two and utilize line Warmers to complete the requirement needed on the Production line. With the installation of four line Warmers and reducing the number of boilers in the Power House from five to two, Coca-Cola’s return on investment was just over 2 years. Lauhoff Building Services conducted the project management of this project which included tear out of the five boilers through a phased process, installing the new boilers and warmers at the same time, and once on-line, we were then able to remove the remaining boilers. The project was delivered on time and with-in budget.
Ceiling Replacement
A food safety concern was identified regarding the condition of a lay-in ceiling tile system. Lauhoff Building Services via of its sub-contractors, tore out and replaced the existing ceiling system with a hard type of ceiling tile system. Light fixtures were upgraded. Wire and power was run by the Lauhoff Building Services staff and we were the project manager on this job as well.
Conveyor Line Upgrade
Lauhoff Building Services was retained to project manage the conveyor upgrade from hydraulic motors to electric motors. The project expanded and Lauhoff Building Services provided engineering for the upgrade as well. The project was completed on time and with-in budget.
Automated Warehouse Crane Replacement
Our client maintains an automated warehouse whereby pallets of product are stacked for future delivery to their customers. It was determined that the cranes that store the product had surpassed their useful life and replacement was needed. Lauhoff Building Services was retained by Coca-Cola to project manage and act as the owners representative in all meetings during the project. There were some issues encountered from the OEM during this project but via Lauhoff Building Services’ Project Manager, the cranes were installed on time and with-in budget.
Plant Air Handling Modifications
Our client had entertained proposals from HVAC companies in regards to a de-humidification and supply air issue that had plagued their Plant for some time. The proposals received were at the $400k mark, which the client had no budget for. Lauhoff Building Services was asked to provide input and assist in problem solving. Using our in-house engineers, by utilizing and modifying the existing HVAC system and adding additional capacity, Lauhoff Building Services was able to deliver the entire package, (hardware, installation and project management) for half of the cost quoted by other sub-contractors.
